Hopes Taieri Sevens will go ahead

A Taieri Sevens organiser is hopeful the postponed event will run tomorrow.

Taieri Junior Rugby president Tim Guthrie said the "right call" was made today to postpone the tournament at Peter Johnstone Park.

"With the heavy rain overnight, it wasn't worth having the kids getting wet and cold after the first game and having to sit around for two or three hours."

The forecast was for the weather to clear so he expected the tournament to run from 10am tomorrow.

The call if the tournament would proceed would be made between 6.30am and 7am tomorrow.
