North Otago Tennis president Kevin Dellaway was thrilled to see more North Otago players take a shot at the open this year.
''Entries from the local guys have been outstanding. Normally, they don't enter because they are too scared of getting beaten,'' Dellaway said.
''We were missing some of those top players that have been here in the past, but I think it's only added to the tournament ... the level of tennis that has been played here this weekend has been fantastic.''
Dellaway said the Chelmer St grass courts were in the best condition of the season for the two-day tournament.
''Everyone has enjoyed playing on the grass. No-one has gone away grumpy,'' he said.
North Otago interclub tennis resumes on February 2.
