SISS water polo success
Following the success of the Columba junior team winning the South Island year 9 and 10 tournament in Invercargill at the end of last year, eight players from that successful team combined with five senior girls to make up the 13-player team to compete in the South Island tournament in Christchurch.
Columba College won the South Island secondary schools tournament in Christchurch last weekend with a 4-1 win over Christchurch Girls High School in the final.
Despite the recent weather, weekly competitions in touch, cricket, volleyball, tennis and softball are under way for the year.
Kaikorai Valley College will make its third trip in as many years to the national touch championships next month.
Country coaching visits
The term four country coaching visits are now completed with pupils from all 11 country schools benefiting from specialist coaching in a variety of sports - tennis, cricket, golf, athletics and touch. The regional sporting organisations, together with Sport Otago, continue to give great support to this programme.
