Kavanagh College pupil Guy Woodhouse is a team player who understands that his best chance of breaking on to the international stage as a sprinter is in relays.

Woodhouse (15) won his first international medal as part of the New Zealand team that finished third at the Pacific Schools Games in Canberra last December.

Columba girls team best in pool

SISS water polo success

Following the success of the Columba junior team winning the South Island year 9 and 10 tournament in Invercargill at the end of last year, eight players from that successful team combined with five senior girls to make up the 13-player team to compete in the South Island tournament in Christchurch.

Country coaching visits

The term four country coaching visits are now completed with pupils from all 11 country schools benefiting from specialist coaching in a variety of sports - tennis, cricket, golf, athletics and touch. The regional sporting organisations, together with Sport Otago, continue to give great support to this programme.
