As Covid-19 cases begin to rise primary health organisation WellSouth has extended the opening hours of its Covid community testing centre at 5 Malcolm St.
A spokesman said it was important people continued to test and isolate if they were unwell.
It wanted to reassure people that community testing was readily available after the closure of the Te Kaika testing centre in Victoria Rd.
The hours of operation are now 9.30am to 5.30pm, seven days a week. The testing centre is also open for drive-through and walk-in testing with no appointment required.
The centre offers testing for symptomatic patients and surveillance testing for border workers but does not offer pre-departure travel testing.
The testing centre was a community collection site for rapid antigen tests (Rats), but these needed to be ordered online at requestrats.covid19.health.nz prior to collection, the spokesman said.
