Two successful businesswomen were last night inducted into the Columba College Business Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame, which was established in 2007, honours former Columba pupils who have made their mark in the world of business.

This year's laureates were Catherine Taylor, Kiwibank's group manager people and business services, and Melbourne-based lawyer Moira Rayner.

Mrs Taylor, who attended Columba from 1974 to 1979, grew up in Dunedin and graduated from the University of Otago with a bachelor of commerce degree, majoring in manpower studies and information systems.

Her work experience included the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, where she was recruited as a graduate and worked her way up to the role of personnel manager, Mitsubishi Motors, Rudd Watts and Stone, Sun Alliance Life and Disability, State Insurance, Enza and Land Information New Zealand.

She has developed and led the people strategy, programmes and processes for Kiwibank since early 2001. Ms Rayner attended Columba between 1953 and 1965, before moving to Australia with her family.

She gained a law degree with honours from the University of Western Australia and began her legal career.

She is principal of Moira Rayner and Associates, and Moira E. Rayner Australian Lawyers in Melbourne, and co-chairs the workplace relations section of the Law Institute of Victoria.

She is also completing her PhD thesis, on the participation of children in public decision-making, with Melbourne University.

She teaches in the postgraduate discrimination law course as a senior fellow and has co-authored several books on governance, human rights, government policy and women and power.
