Over the past four years, the airport has had passenger growth of 20%, the busiest month on record being March this year at 99,457, on the
back of marquee events including the Eagles concert in Dunedin.
Its financial results back up the foot traffic, being an after-tax surplus of $3.6 million from total revenue of $17.2 million.
More than half of that income came on the ground, at $10.1million versus $7.5million for aero-based returns.
Car parking, for example, netted the airport $310,700 for the year.
Airport chief executive Richard Roberts said that during the year there had been significant investment in airport infrastructure, capex reaching $9.1million, and $7.3million was spent on the terminal expansion and $856,000 on the expansion of the gate five apron.
"When complete, the airport's terminal expansion project would add around 1200sqm to the terminal building, while expanding the security screening area by 157% and doubling the boarding lounge area."

Awesome! Dunedin has a huge terminal to match the huge parking lot. We need responsive leadership working to get more airplanes flying into/out of the airport. What good is a terminal and parking lot at the airport if there are not flights? Maybe the new mayor can get a new CEO who can improve that!
Dunedin on the whole is experiencing more growth than ever. Great to see that Dunedin 'International' airport, are reaping the rewards too.
