Clutha Valley Lions Club is holding a dairy expo at Clydevale next month, following the success of the inaugural event two years ago.
An influx of dairy farmer members prompted the idea of holding a dairy expo as a fundraiser, president David Wardell said. Expecting to attract 40 or 50 stall-holders, the club had been ''blown away'' when 110 exhibitors registered.
Following that event, a $20,000 donation was made to the Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter and money was also given to the Christchurch earthquake appeal and put towards the local recreational ground.
This year's event will be held on a Clydevale farm on February 20. There were already 85 exhibitors, and registrations were still being taken. Anyone interested could contact Mr Wardell on (03) 415-9030.
Stalls covered everything from machinery through to animal health and fertiliser. The PTA would do the catering, while the fire brigade would be there to provide first response.
