Entries for the 2009 Golden Lamb Awards are now open as the search to find New Zealand's tastiest and most tender lamb gears up.
The "Glammie" awards competition has been run by Beef and Lamb New Zealand on behalf of Meat and Wool New Zealand since its inception three years ago.
Sponsored by PGG Wrightson and Pfizer Animal Genetics, last year's premier Glammie award was won by an Ashurst father-and-son team, Forbes and Angus Cameron, with their Romney lamb.
For the first time the challenge will also include a brand section to find the best lamb retailer.
After last year's success, it was timely to open the competition to retailers, CEO of Beef and Lamb New Zealand Rod Slater said.
The final lamb cuts will be tasted by a judging panel of chefs and celebrities at the Wanaka A and P show on March 13-14, 2009.
