Season off to a good start

The bull-selling season in the South is off to a strong start.

The Duncan family, of Penvose Angus in Wedderburn, sold 29 bulls for an average of $4400, with a top price of $7000 sold to Glenrene Holdings in Outram.

Geoff and Noela Crutchley, of Puketoi Angus, also in Maniototo, sold 25 bulls for an average of $4860, with a top price of $17,000 sold to Te Whanga Angus in Wairarapa, and a second top price of $10,500 sold to Kowai Angus in Gore.

Taiaroa Charolais in Paerau sold 18 bulls for an average of $6200 with a top price of $7800 sold to J. and T. Pannett in Roxburgh, while Poller View Charolais at Hillend sold seven bulls for a top price of $4700.

Delmont Angus in Clinton sold 14 bulls for an average of $3842 and a top price of $8000 sold to Jeff Farm in Kaiwera, while Island Stream Simmentals, in North Otago, sold 10 bulls for an average of $3570 and a top price of $5500 sold to Huirapa Partnership in Middlemarch.

Lone Pine Simmentals in Raes Junction sold 18 bulls for an average of $5278 and a top price of $12,000 sold to Simon McRae, of Waimate.

Glenside Simmentals in Waitahuna sold 17 bulls for an average of $6041 and a top price of $10,500 sold to Stuart Paterson, of Gimmerburn.

At the Owaka bull sale, Beresford Simmentals sold 11 bulls for an average of $4220 and a top price of $7500 sold to Aaron Bell in the Hakataramea valley, and Westview Charolais sold four bulls for an average of $5225 and a top price of $7000 sold to R. B. Murray, of Port Molyneux.
