The TeenAg competition, held in conjunction with the Young Farmer Contest in Masterton last week, was won by James Gardyne (17) and Robert Gregory (16) from St Peter's College in Gore, who beat their siblings Allan Gregory and Richard Gardyne.

James and Robert both entered the competition as they hoped to both become Young Farmer contestants one day.

While they struggled with the equestrian module, they enjoyed the modules as it taught them skills, including first aid and how to deal with agricultural chemicals.

The Romahapa Butchers - Katelyn Kinraid (13), Jack Kennedy (12) and Laura Thorn (11) - were unplaced in the AgriKidsNZ grand final but had an "awesome" experience, coach and manager Katy Button said.

The trio apparently lived up to their name with some quality sausages in the sausage making module. The grand finalists also toured Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre, and learned to use stock-whips.
