Otago's largest real estate company will be launched next month.
Highland Real Estate Group, formerly Queenstown Real Estate, will take over the Harcourts offices in Dunedin and Balclutha on October 1.
The company already operates Harcourts franchises in Queenstown, Arrowtown and Cromwell.
The acquisition meant the new company would have 70 staff, including more than 60 sales consultants, Highland Real Estate Group general manager Kelvin Collins said yesterday.
"Within the real estate industry, mergers and acquisitions are increasingly common as business owners try to achieve the economies of scale that allow them to deliver more to both their teams and clients," Mr Collins said.
"Our move to form the largest real estate company in Otago means our staff and, in turn, their clients will now be able to benefit from the shared knowledge, skills and databases of a much larger team."
