Businesses and members of the community will come together to fight cancer before next year's Relay for Life.
The Otago event is to be held on March 28 and 29 at the Caledonian Ground, Logan Park.
Dunedin's Mitre 10 Mega has come on board as a major partner for Relay for Life Otago 2020, to the delight of Cancer Society Otago-Southland chief executive Rachael Hart.
"This is fabulous news for us,'' she said.
"Relay for Life is a major event for bringing the community together and Mitre 10 Mega is founded on their community - so they are an ideal partner.''
Mitre 10 Mega chief executive Neil Finn-House said it would be "great to be involved''.
"We have worked with Rachael and her team a number of times in the past, so it's good to formalise this relationship.
"Also, a lot of our team and customers are affected by cancer, and will be keen to support Relay for Life.''
Mitre 10 Mega will provide sponsorship and logistical support for Relay for Life, and team members will assist at the event itself.
"We will also be entering a team in Relay for Life ourselves,'' Mr Finn-House said.
The store will also hold workshops and run fundraising events in the coming months.
Ms Hart said the Relay for Life Otago 2020 would coincide with the 20th anniversary of Relay for Life in New Zealand.
"We are so honoured by the support we receive from our community,'' she said.
The society received no government funding, so the event helped it to provide a range of services, including one-on-one support for people affected by cancer and its accommodation service for people travelling for treatment, as well as funding health promotion and research programmes.
