Two people have been taken to Dunedin Hospital after a crash on the city's one way system this morning.

A police spokeswoman said they were called to the scene, in the middle of the intersection between Crawford (State Highway 1) and Jetty Sts, just after 6.30am.

The drivers of the two cars involved were both taken to hospital.

The road was closed for a time after the crash, but diversions had been removed by 7.45am.

A St John spokeswoman said two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Not saying this was the cause, but there are a huge amount of people who constantly run red lights in Dunedin (not even remotely an exaggeration - i'm on the road all day), so i'm surprised crashes like this don't happen more often.
