The wraps are off the extra storey on top of Forsyth Barr House in the Octagon, Dunedin.

What was once a caretaker’s flat is becoming a lofty site for reception and hosting clients of the investment company.

Wrapping has been removed and copper cladding at the top of the 11-storey building in the Octagon can be seen.

The presence of copper has been touted as both reflecting historical use of the metal in the city precinct and representing the most current medium for facade technology.

Dunedin architect Craig McAuliffe, of McAuliffe Stevens, has previously described the top of the building, seen from nearby elevated streets, as ‘‘a jumble of building services and a caretaker’s flat’’.

The new silhouette of the building’s top floors would be visually prominent for motorists and pedestrians entering the Octagon from Stuart St.

"The new silhouette of the building’s top floors would be visually prominent for motorists and pedestrians entering the Octagon from Stuart St" so just another phallic symbol then......

Funny they don't mention those City Rise residents who now have to put up with their 24hr artificially lit building completely dominating the Cathedral and First Church in their subtlety. Money rules.
