Be that as it may, The Gods of Guilt (the title refers to the 12 jurors in a murder trial) has an intriguing plot and moves along at a brisk pace, beginning with the arrest of a gay pimp, whose ''high-class'' prostitutes can be contacted online.
When one of these working girls is strangled and incinerated, and the pimp is charged with her murder, Mickey Haller, complete with Lincoln car and warehouse-based team of hi-tech, switched-on investigators, rides to the rescue.
Mickey is especially motivated as the murdered woman was a former client whom he thought had given up her life of grime. Once convinced his client is innocent, Mickey begins the search for the guilty parties.
Given the setting is Los Angeles, who more obvious than possibly corrupt law enforcement parties? Sounds familiar? True, but there are some great twists, both criminal and legal.
