WORLD Fitness has moved into the Forsyth Barr Stadium, with the big open day this Saturday being a great opportunity to check out the new space.

WORLD FITNESS OPEN DAY

10am-2pm Saturday, February 18.

Level 2A, Forsyth Barr Stadium,

130 Anzac Ave, Dunedin.

Bookings are essential.

See www.worldfitness.co.nz for more information

There will be spot prizes, free workouts, the chance to experience TRIBE team training, a competition to win free memberships, and a fantastic deal for new members - ask on the day.

Owner Chris Thompson says World Fitness moved from its previous Hanover St premises in December with the help of Moana House residents.

The opportunity to move into the Forsyth Barr Stadium space was too good to pass up.
``We thought there were synergies involved with being here,'' she says. ``It's a newer space, it's modern, with new facilities.''

In the same neighbourhood as their previous location, the stadium offers various advantages, including free car-parking, and the potential for outdoor training at Logan Park or on the harbour walking/cycling track.

There's been an investment in gym equipment, with new cardio machines, dumbbells, rubber flooring, and functional racks. These racks are located in a separate functional training area at the back of the new facility.

The gym is temperature-controlled, and there are new showers and toilets. World Fitness has operated in Dunedin for over 25 years now, and has always been locally owned, with Chris and Nick Cooke running it since 2003.

Their philosophy for the gym is to provide a space that is welcoming for all, Chris says.
``We want this to be a comfortable place for people to come and work out, and for them to feel that they're valued, and feel that it doesn't matter what they look like.''

As well as a full timetable that includes Pilates, pump, step, cycling, boxing, circuit, and Zumba classes, World Fitness is the only Dunedin gym to offer TRIBE Team Training.

``There is TRIBE Punch, a boxing-style programme, and we have TRIBE Fit, which is an intense type of circuit workout,'' gym manager Phil Shaw says. ``It's a six-week programme with every workout being different. It's in really small groups, and people get great results and don't want to leave.''
TRIBE is available for both members and non-members of World Fitness.

For those with little ones, World Fitness offers childcare services from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 10.30am.
