This weekend, Dunedin’s RenoMasters is holding a renovation-reveal open home, to showcase what the team could do for you.

The open home, at 24 Northumberland St in North East Valley, will provide a great opportunity to speak to the team about your renovation plans. Other trades and suppliers, and Click Property Management, will also be there to have a chat with.

The RenoMasters team have renovation in their veins. They have the knowledge and experience to turn your ideas, big or small, into reality. They’ll also quite likely improve upon them.

After all, managing director Andrew Elliott has been involved in home renovations for over 30 years. By specialising in that area of building, RenoMasters is able to provide a total solution and take much of the stress out of the process for its clients.

"We’re not just a building company, we’re a personalised renovation company,’’ Andrew says. ‘‘We’ll manage everything for the client so they don’t have to run around and find different tradies to do different things for them."

Many people contemplate DIYing or project managing their own renovations to save some money. These approaches often have their pitfalls, however. From a lack of experience in dealing with the city council on consenting issues, to attempting to manage various tradespeople who may not work well together, there are a lot of potential problems.

From a lack of experience in dealing with the city council on consenting issues, to attempting to manage various tradespeople who may not work well together, there are a lot of potential problems.

RenoMasters makes the renovation journey far smoother, working through its well-established eight-step building process.

"We break it down very simply about what will happen,’’ Andrew says. ‘‘Talking is the cheapest part of the journey, and the most important part. It is about setting the expectations, understanding the ground rules, and then allowing us all to move forward in the right direction."

An initial site visit is a critical part of the process. RenoMasters is often able to suggest solutions at this early stage that the client has not previously thought about.

Then by communicating with the architect or draughts-person, an initial concept plan can be produced, along with a preliminary budget.

Once work is under way, it’s a case of managing the client through the emotional journey that renovating often is.

"There is a bit of a roller-coaster ride with any renovation,’’ Andrew says. ‘‘That’s the coaching part of the journey from a building perspective."

The amazing work that RenoMasters performs can be viewed at this weekend’s renovation-reveal open home.

The small 1914 wooden villa has been almost completely renovated. It’s been double-glazed, fully insulated in both walls and ceiling, had two heatpumps and gas installed, new bathroom and kitchen, French doors onto a new deck, as well as new fencing, paving, and landscaping.

"We’ve tried to showcase what a renovation building company can do," RenoMasters marketing manager Andrea Elliott says. "It’s quite a modest home renovation cost-wise, but reasonably good specs."

Andrea also manages Click Property Management. The villa will be managed by them, and it can be available to lease short term for RenoMasters clients who have to find alternative accommodation during extensive renovation work.

Click is an award-winning residential property-management company. Talk to them about managing your Airbnb, and short-term and long-term residential rentals in Dunedin.

The open homes at 24 Northumberland St, North East Valley, Dunedin, are from 1pm until 4pm this Saturday and Sunday.

As well as being able to talk to RenoMasters and others involved, there’ll be a video documenting the villa’s renovation process, giveaways, and a barbecue from PlaceMakers on Sunday.

For anyone thinking about renovating their current home due to the lack of available real estate in Dunedin, landlords looking to upgrade, or those who have begun a project but stalled, it’s the ideal time to talk about what’s possible.
