Trusted local builder takes the reins of G.J. Gardner Otago

New Zealand’s most trusted home builder now has new ownership and management for its local Otago franchise.

G.J. Gardner welcomes highly regarded local builder Dan Johnson and his team, who are excited to start working hard for the Otago community.

Dan was born and bred in the city, and has a strong work ethic that goes right back to when he was a kid helping out at his dad’s South Dunedin butchery.

He left Kings High School and started building at 17. Early in his career Dan completed his apprenticeship with GJ’s, before going out on his own and forging his business  built on the values of integrity, quality service.

‘‘In business I believe in being honest and doing what you say,’’ he says. ‘‘It’s about giving the customer a great experience and handing over a house that delivers to expectation. It’s important the customer is involved through the build journey, so they know what is happening with their money because it’s their biggest investment.’’

‘‘I’ve been at the other end building the homes, so now it’s good to have some control and make it my own’’ he says. ‘‘I like to help people, and get them into a home that makes them happy.’’

Away from work, Dan is well known in the Dunedin rugby community. He and his partner Jess are Pirates stalwarts, and their three kids play for the club.
