Redken 5th Avenue NYC returns to the catwalk for the 12th time as hair sponsor, creating the looks backstage that enrich the "future of fashion'' ideas out front.

Directing Redken's backstage styling team for the second year are wife and husband Sara Allsop and Jock Robson from Auckland's Dharma Hairdressing.

"iD Dunedin gives talented stylists a chance to get among the backstage vibe of working a fashion week,'' Sara said. ``We are passionate about inspiring the backstage styling team, which includes members from the Redken Artist Team, Redken Runway Team and supporting Redken salons from Tauranga, Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

"We really get the team involved, not only in the latest trends but also all the great products coming through,'' she said. Sara and Jock have already begun developing the looks and involving the key members of the team to ensure they are prepared before heading south.

"I always have a few collection ideas I like to focus on when I'm planning for the runway. At the moment I am really into Palm Springs 1950s to 1960s, modernist architecture, the Mafia wives of the era. I'm also casting my mind back to the early '80s punk and new wave era -- we have to be ready to follow the designers' leads but I am always keen to give my stylists some creative direction.''

The Redken Artistic Team for iD Dunedin 2013 comprises newcomers Kaleb Pritchard and Hemi Kukutai supported by Mana Dave, Kelly Latu and Tim Riwhi, of Tumeke Hair, Cromwell.

Dunedin and other local stylists flying the flag for the host city are Lana Marshall, Tash Van-Leuween, Kelsey Lyons from Aart on St Andrew, Bella Sinclair of Dal-Vivo and Sarah Scott, of Hair.co Hairdressing, Mosgiel.
