A foiled escape on wheels followed by a 30m foot chase culminated in a woman allegedly threatening to kill officers in Mosgiel, police say.

While conducting foot patrols in Mosgiel, police noticed a woman with a suspended driver’s licence driving in Gordon Rd, about 3pm yesterday.

Police contacted the 26-year-old woman and requested she come to the station to discuss the incident, Sgt Matt Lee, of Dunedin, said.

However, she refused.

A short time later, the woman’s partner presented at the station.

He advised there was "no way" he would let police impound the vehicle, and police would "never find it", Sgt Lee said.

"Approximately two minutes later, police located the vehicle parked on Argyle St."

The pair then attempted to get into the vehicle and escape, but it was blocked in by police.

The woman was told she was under arrest but opted to flee on foot, "resulting in a 30m foot chase".

She allegedly resisted arrest and threatened to kill the police officers, Sgt Lee said.

The woman was arrested and bailed to appear in court at a later date, charged with resisting police, threatening to kill and driving while on a suspended licence.

The vehicle was also impounded, Sgt Lee said.
