A man found buried on a NSW rural property where Gino and Mark Stocco were arrested may have died more than three weeks ago, police say.
The father-son duo faced a Dubbo court today after being charged with 17 offences each, including the murder of 68-year-old Rosario Cimone.
It is alleged in court documents that the pair murdered Mr Cimone at the Elong Elong property, Pinevale, on October 7.
Their arrests yesterday ended an intensive two-week manhunt by police across two states and came after authorities had pursued the Queenslanders for up to eight years.
Gino Stocco (57) and his son Mark Stocco (36) have been charged with shooting with intent to murder in relation to allegations they fired shots at two police vehicles near Wagga Wagga on October 16.
This was the event that triggered at the search for the duo, who were also wanted in relation to property offences in Queensland.
Magistrate Andrew Eckhold excused the pair from appearing in court in Dubbo today and formally refused bail.
They were being held at the local police station next door.
Their lawyers told the court there would be no release application for either man.
"The Crown tell us they're seeking the brief be served by January 6 and all matters be adjourned to this court to January 20 for reply," Gino Stocco's lawyer said.
"We're in agreement that those would be appropriate orders."
Police will allege the Stoccos were driving a stolen silver Nissan Navara when they attempted to kill police officers at Mangoplah, near Wagga Wagga.
It's alleged they then stole a white Toyota LandCruiser, multiple number plates and items including power tools and camping equipment.
Mr Eckhold ordered the men to reappear at Dubbo Local Court on January 20.
Later, officers from Goulburn's High Risk Transport Unit collected the men from the Dubbo police station.
"They will be initially conveyed to Wellington Prison, and then from there assessed and most likely will be transferred to another prison," Acting Assistant Commissioner Clint Pheeney told reporters moments after the transfer.
It's believed the pair will be later transported to Goulburn Prison, which has a super-maximum facility.
