Call girl told to look pretty for minister

A former boxer says he told a group of prostitutes to look as glamorous as possible for a former NSW Labor minister, a corruption inquiry has heard.

Lucky Gattellari, who is in custody awaiting trial for the murder of businessman Michael McGurk, gave evidence before the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) today.

Gattellari said he had a phone conversation with property tycoon Ron Medich to organise the call girls for former NSW energy minister Ian Macdonald.

"My instructions were to have a selection of girls so that the person that they wanted to be entertained would have a selection as to who he wanted," he said.

Counsel assisting the commission, Geoffrey Watson, SC, asked if he knew who the girls were for.

"Did he tell you who that person was, who was it?" Mr Watson asked.

"Ian Macdonald," Gattellari replied.

"I telephoned them and told them to look as glamorous as they could and to appear that night at the restaurant."

Mr Gattellari then referred to his diary to remember all the women who were there.

"There was Annie, Cindy, Cathy and Tiffanie."

ICAC is investigating whether Mr MacDonald received the services of an escort named Tiffanie as a reward for setting up meetings between Medich and energy firm executives in 2009.

The women were allegedly made available to the minister after one of the meetings.

Gattellari said he instructed his driver, Senad Kaminic, to take Tiffanie to the Four Seasons, give her a room key, then wait for Mr Macdonald and give him a key.

"I said to Tiffanie that he was very important to us and that he should be looked after as best you could."

Gattellari, Medich and Kim Shipley, the chief executive of energy company Rivercorp, which was seeking government contracts, then went to Mr Medich's home "with the balance of the girls", he said.
