A woman has been charged with attempted murder after a knife attack on a 7-year-old boy in Cairns, in Queensland.
Police say a 26-year-old woman attacked the child at a Woree home last month.
He was saved when a second woman who was at the property disarmed her and fled with the boy to a neighbour's home.
The boy suffered a cut to his chest and has since been released from hospital.
On Thursday police said they had charged the woman with attempted murder and attempted assault occasioning bodily harm.
She is expected to face the Cairns Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The incident happened about 7am on March 18.
