Nothing will be done by halves in this week’s production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, the Musical if last night’s sparkling dress rehearsal at Dunedin’s Regent Theatre is any indication.

While three brightly dressed women with simply fabulous hair hovered above, many umbrellas were deployed below during a vibrant performance of It’s Raining Men.

Based on the Oscar-winning movie Priscilla, Queen of The Desert, the musical is billed as "the heart-warming, uplifting adventure of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship".

The Musical Theatre Dunedin production has made use of two 12m-long shipping containers full of sets and costumes that aim to "knock Dunedin’s frocks off".

The show starts today and runs until May 12.
