Getting closer

The money was raised at last month's Autospectacular. Mr Stichman is president of the Otago Early Falcon Fairlane Club, and Mr Gilchrist is president of the Otago Classic Motoring Club.

Mr Martin said the fundraising tally was now more than $1.1million, and the pool would close for about three months over the summer for upgrades.

This would include painting the exterior, replacing tiles, automating the chemical treatment system, repairing window frames and installing new supply and exhaust fans.

The trust is aiming to raise $1.5million, and more donations are sought.
