Another suspicious approach

Police are investigating after a man made a suspicious approach to a child at Mosgiel Library.

A police spokeswoman said they received the report about 2pm yesterday.

Police were investigating but would not comment further, except to say they were not aware of any other suspicious approaches in Dunedin this week.

Dunedin City Council library services manager Bernie Hawke confirmed staff at the Mosgiel library  had called police.

"Incidents such as these happen rarely at the Dunedin Public Libraries and this is the only incident we are aware of at the Mosgiel Library in recent years," he said.

The number of reported suspicious approaches to children since September now stands at six.

No arrests have been made in relation to the reports.

The other reports have been from Ravensbourne, Halfway Bush, two from Wakari and one from George St, near Warrender St.

Dunedin police (03)471-4800, Crimestoppers 0800-555-111.
