The would-be artists were thoroughly entertained by cartoonist Brent Harpur yesterday afternoon as they learnt the basics of his craft.
Mr Harpur, of Dunedin, said he was "very impressed" with the quality of the children’s drawings.
"It went really well.
"The kids all wanted to draw Donald Trump. I was amazed at how well the kids drew him," he said.
The class was part of a school holiday programme run by Dunedin Public Libraries. The final workshop for these holidays will be held on Sunday at the City library but it is already sold out. Dunedin Public Libraries events co-ordinator Kay Mercer said it was an important programme for local children.
"It’s part of our lifelong learning programme.
"Children really want to be involved in something interactive. Kids don’t want to sit these days," she said.
About 30 people attended the workshop, including some adults.
