Auto show with a big heart

Koru Care Otago is holding the Outram Auto Show on Sunday to raise funds to take children with health issues and disabilities to Queensland's Gold Coast.

Organiser Lauren Watkins said the children benefited hugely from the trip.

''It's just amazing what these kids can do. It's all about independence and getting them away from home.''

The children were usually aged between 9 and 15, Mrs Watkins said.

Organiser Peter Watkins said past shows had raised enough money to pay for a child's return trip.

Entry to exhibit at Outram Recreation Ground cost $10 per car and $5 per motorbike and people could enter on the day.

''Just rock on in.''

About 200 vehicles were expected to be entered - from Chryslers to Cortinas - and spectators could enter from 10.30am with a gold coin donation, he said.
