Ballet refunds to be advocated

The Royal New Zealand Ballet is reassuring customers it will try to secure refunds from under-fire Dunedin company Ticket Rocket.

An email sent to customers last week said that until recently Ticket Rocket was contracted to provide ticketing services for all performances at the Regent Theatre in Dunedin, including those by the Royal New Zealand Ballet.

The Regent Theatre had formally ended its relationship with Ticket Rocket and was in the process of appointing a new ticketing provider, the email said.

Tickets for ballet shows by the company at the Regent issued by Ticket Rocket would still be valid, but work was being done "with urgency" to ensure ticket-holders could transfer or swap tickets for cancelled or rescheduled shows.

"If you would prefer to receive a refund, we will do everything possible to ensure that Ticket Rocket pays the refund that is due.

"However, as the ticketing money is held by Ticket Rocket we cannot guarantee if, and when, this will occur.

"We would like to thank you for your patience while the Regent Theatre moves to a new ticketing provider, and we look forward to welcoming you back to performances by the Royal New Zealand Ballet in Dunedin, very soon."
