One of the most prominent buildings at the north end of Dunedin's CBD is being given a fresh coat of paint.
The building occupied by the Westpac Bank, at the corner of George and Frederick Sts, has scaffolding around it for the work.
Westpac branch manager David Tapp said the painting was part of a maintenance programme and the colour scheme would not change.
The colour of the one-time Crown Clothing Company building has been controversial in the past, particularly in 1990 when it was repainted a streaky terracotta colour.
A representative of the owner, who did not want to be named, said she did not particularly like the building's grey paint but that was the bank's preferred colour.
