Brake problem causes pile-up

Traffic is at a standstill on the Dunedin Southern Motorway near the Oval yesterday afternoon after a car with brake problems caused a five-car pile-up.

Senior Sergeant Brian Benn, of Dunedin, said, ''It appears one car appeared not to have any brakes,'' causing damage to the other vehicles. Fortunately, none of the occupants was injured, he said.
