A fire investigator has been requested to examine a vehicle damaged by fire in Dunedin today.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said a crew from Brighton Volunteer Fire Brigade and Lookout Point Station responded to a vehicle on fire in Kayforce Rd in Ocean View about 10.45am.

The blaze was extinguished by firefighters using a hose reel, he said.

A fire investigator had been requested but it was unknown if the blaze was suspicious, he said.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
