Police were last night searching for a late-model green Ford Falcon after abandoning a short car chase through Dunedin.
The pursuit began about 8.15pm after the offending vehicle failed to stop in Princes St, fleeing through South Dunedin to Portsmouth Dr, Sergeant Chris MacAulay said.
It was last seen in Portobello Rd.
Police abandoned the ‘‘unsafe'' pursuit minutes after it began, when speeds reached 90kmh, but inquiries were continuing, he said.
