Dunedin Collaboration Against Family Violence co-ordinator Michaela Corcoran ties a white ribbon to the First Church fence in commemoration of White Ribbon Day yesterday.

Presbyterian Support Otago general manager Nicole Devereux said the initiative was about recognising that family harm and violence was incredibly prevalent in the community.

At present there were about 40 to 60 incidents of reported family violence every week in Dunedin.

White Ribbon Day was an attempt to change the conversation around masculinity and encouraging men to break the cycle of family violence.
