The Child Cancer Foundation's second annual fun run and walk of courage drew 166 runners and walkers of wide-ranging ages to Memorial Park, in Mosgiel.
Entries in the 5km walk and run and 10km run included a dog and an infant in a pushchair.
The two races were officially started by young cancer survivors Holly Bonney and Madie King (13).
The event was "good fun" Holly said, after she had completed the 5km walk and run.
Holly was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was 10 months old, before overcoming the disease, her father, Paul Bonney, said.
Wet and heavy conditions underfoot did not stop a fun family day in the sun, Child Cancer Foundation Otago-Southland fundraising manager Keri McLachlan said.
"We're stoked with the turnout, especially considering the weather conditions. It's been really great to see all the little kids out," she said.
"We wanted to grow on last year and get on people's running calendars. It's good to get people off the couch and push play on a Sunday."
Money raised from the event would be used for child cancer initiatives in the Otago and Southland region, Miss McLachlan said.
