A man has escaped with minor injuries after his mobility scooter and a car collided in King Edward St this morning.

A police spokeswoman said the incident happened about 11am, and was believed to have happened when a vehicle was backing out of a driveway.

A Hato Hone St John Ambulance spokesman said the man on the mobility scooter received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
