The Soweto Gospel Choir has won three Grammy Awards over the past decade - most recently, the 2019 Grammy for Best World Music Album.
The group, comprised of 18 of South Africa's best artists, has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music, including U2, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Ben Harper, Robert Plant, Celine Dion, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and its music can be heard on several Hollywood films.
The choir will perform in Dunedin's Regent Theatre on March 29, as part of the Freedom 2020 New Zealand tour, which is in honour of Nelson Mandela and South Africa's struggle for freedom.
Along with traditional South African anthems, the choir will perform its famous renditions of Amazing Grace, Hallelujah, and Freedom Songs Medley.
Producer Andrew Kay said the choir was thrilled to return to New Zealand for the first time in eight years.
''The group continues to inspire fans worldwide.
''We hope that our uplifting message of hope, faith and joy reaches audiences new and old on this special return visit as we celebrate the legacy of the great Nelson Mandela.''
