Council parks and recreation group manager Scott MacLean said Dunedin’s more than 300 council-managed parks and reserves were well used and popular with residents and visitors.
"Dunedin is fortunate to have so many parks and reserves available for public use and enjoyment.
"People use them for a large range of recreation activities, enhancing our quality of life and wellbeing."
"We have policies to ensure we manage these areas in a useful way for all kinds of users."
Those policies were out-of-date, so the 2005 general policies reserves management plan was being reviewed and the council wanted help from Dunedin residents.
"We’re seeking the views of residents in the wider Dunedin area to make sure these policies effectively manage our parks and reserves and respond to changing community needs."
The policies covered many issues, including conservation, pest control, tree management and littering.
Feedback would be used to develop an updated reserves management plan and residents would be able to comment on the draft.
