Baffling break-in, burglaries reported

Reports of burglaries and break-ins ranging from the bizarre to the mundane continue to roll in to Dunedin police.

Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson said between Friday and Saturday a ``big copper pot plant holder'' was reported missing from a Barclay St driveway in North Dunedin.

Pot plants were reported missing from two properties in St Kilda earlier this month.

Snr Sgt Thomson said another puzzling incident, this time on Friday in Lock St, St Clair, was reported to police in the past few days.

``Somebody's gone into the washhouse and cut the cord to the washing machine at the base.''

Other recent reports of burglary in the South:

Magdala St, Kakanui: diving and fishing gear and tools taken from sheds August 5 and Thursday.

Uxbridge St, Normanby, Dunedin: line trimmer, 5-litre petrol can and green safety helmet (with visor) taken from two sheds on Friday or Saturday.

High St, central Dunedin: cellphone and $50 worth of food taken from a flat between 8am and 10am on Saturday.

Clyde St, Dunedin: PlayStation 4 taken from a home between 11am and 3pm on Saturday.
