A Dunedin woman has admitted drunkenly ramming a car after an argument spiralled out of control, a court has heard.
Lilly Ellen Meikle, 20, appeared in the Dunedin District Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to drink-driving and reckless driving causing injury.
The court heard that at 1.30am on April 18, the defendant was at a house party in Dunedin.
A car arrived at the party to pick two people up and the occupants yelled out to Meikle.
She went outside and the car drove off briefly before returning.
The yelling continued before one party-goer got into the car.
Meikle followed them and told the driver that she would run them off the road.
She and three associates got into a Ford Ranger and followed the carload of people.
When the car stopped at a red light, the defendant rammed into the back of it at speed.
Three passengers in the car were taken to Dunedin Hospital in an ambulance.
One person suffered a cut to her forehead which required treatment.
Meikle was spoken to by police and breath-testing procedures revealed a breath-alcohol level of 600mcg, which is more than twice the legal limit.
She told police she knew she should not have chased the other car, but believed they had brake-checked her, causing the collision.
The defendant had no previous convictions.
She was remanded on bail until her sentencing date in October.
