Police probe Mosgiel break-ins

Police are investigating two break-ins of varying success in Mosgiel last night.

Acting Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson, of Dunedin, said between 9pm last night and 6am today an alleged offender entered a property in Quarry Rd, Kinmont and ''smashed the padlock of a side door to a garage''.

''But they haven't been able to get in because it was still locked up from the other side.''

The second break-in happened in McGlashan St, an industrial area of Mosgiel.

The owners returned to the property yesterday evening and found a lock to the front gate had been cut. About $270 cash was stolen from an office in the property, Snr Sgt Thomson said.
