Rodrick Wayne Woods, 38, briefly rose to prominence in 2019 following a confrontation outside the Christchurch District Court with survivors of the mosque shootings.
Woods played Nazi music and told people they needed to "get over it" and that white supremacists owned the land, media reported.
Later the same day he pleaded guilty to offensive behaviour and was fined $750, telling reporters as he left the justice precinct: "I didn’t do nothing wrong".
However, in November 2022 the consequences were far more serious after Woods pleaded guilty to raping an intoxicated woman who mistakenly got into his car, thinking it was a taxi, while he was lurking around the Christchurch CBD.
Media reported the man was sentenced to four years two months’ imprisonment and that the young woman had made several suicide attempts in the aftermath of her ordeal.
Woods was sent to the Otago Corrections Facility to serve his sentence, but the Dunedin District Court heard this week that he committed another sexual assault while behind bars.
The defendant and his cellmate, who were double-bunking at the prison, had been involved in "light-hearted banter" throughout the day on April 20, Judge Emma Smith said.
Though there were some sexual overtones to their conversation, it was not serious.
Later, the victim was lying on his bunk watching what was happening outside the cell.
His pants were "low-slung" and exposed his underpants, Judge Smith said.
Woods approached and pressed his finger against the man’s anus, over his underwear, which prompted a fiery response.
"I’ll kick your f...... teeth out of your mouth," the victim said.
The court heard Woods apologised immediately.
Though he had more than 100 previous convictions, many of which were for violence, his only sex offences were his last two.
Counsel Andrew Dawson said his client was otherwise making good strides in jail and was hoping to be transferred to Rolleston Prison to continue his psychological treatment.
Judge Smith added four and a-half months to Woods’ sentence for the indecent assault.
He will see the Parole Board midway through next year.
