A vigilant resident has foiled another attempt to break in to a student flat this morning.
Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said police were called to a Castle St flat about 4.20am, following reports of a man trying to climb through a window.
The occupants of the flat yelled out at him and he ran off towards Dundas St, he said.
"Dogs were called out, but no-one was located.
"It's concerning behaviour in the student area of town. Luckily a vigilant person has [woken] up to it.''
Investigations were continuing, he said.
Late last month, a man broke into a student flat in Leith St and threatened one of the occupants.
