Two teenagers allegedly fired blanks from a shotgun at a group of partygoers near Dunedin at the weekend.
Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said police responded to reports of gunshots being fired outside an address in Harry Rd, Hindon, at 12.35am on Sunday.
Police stopped a car outside Mosgiel, and found a shotgun in the car. The driver and passenger were both 18-year-old men, he said.
While the pair initially denied being in Hindon, one of the men later admitted to firing blanks outside the Harry Rd address after people at the party were ‘‘abusive towards his mate’’.
Snr Sgt Dinnissen said firearms licences and nine firearms were seized.
The two men will appear in court on June 16.
- A 69-year-old man was arrested after being found committing an indecency in his car across the road from Tainui School. Snr Sgt Dinnissen said at 12.48pm yesterday, a passerby saw the man in his car on Victoria Rd. He was found by police in his car and arrested. He had travelled from Waimate to Dunedin, Snr Sgt Dinnissen said.
