Woman charged over Leviathan fires named

A woman charged with arson in relation to fires at the Leviathan Hotel yesterday morning was granted bail when brought before Judge Kevin Phillips in the Dunedin District Court today.

Angela Marie Robertson (35), beneficiary, of Dunedin, is charged with intentionally damaging by fire the property of the Leviathan Hotel knowing danger to life was likely to ensue, and attempting to damage the hotel by fire.

Bail conditions include requirement to live at a specified address, curfewed 6pm-8am daily; not to go with 100m of the Leviathan Hotel; not to associate or contact named persons; not to enter licensed premises; not to purchase, possess or consume alcohol or non-prescribed drugs; and to surrender her passport.

Represented by counsel Anne Stevens, Robertson is remanded without plea and is next to appear on September 20.
