The Dunedin City Council has named one of its own senior managers, Dr Sue Bidrose, as its next chief executive.

Dr Bidrose, the council's services and development general manager, was this afternoon unveiled as the successful applicant selected to replace outgoing chief executive Paul Orders.

Mr Orders was in September named as Cardiff Council's next chief executive, and his last day in his Dunedin role will be Friday.

Dr Bidrose's appointment came three years after she joined the council in late 2010, having worked at Waitakere City Council as its community wellbeing director.
