Debating fate of film fee

Film crews gather in Dunedin by the Queens Gardens recently for the filming of the second season of Australian television series Wanted.

Whether they will be charged a fee in future will be decided later this year.

Dunedin City Council staff will report to the council before the next annual plan meeting in May on the effect of dropping a $500 fee on filming in Dunedin.

Cr Kate Wilson's idea was opposed at yesterday's annual plan meeting by Cr Lee Vandervis, who said the fee was negotiable anyway, and he was unsure a zero fee would encourage more filming in the city.

The call for a report was carried after a vote.
