The Taieri Times approached Mrs Nitis, a self-proclaimed "Mos-girl from way back'', to explain her new tattoos.
Last month, she had the brand "Dunedin'' tattooed on her right forearm.
"Mosgiel is my village but Dunedin is my city ... I love everything about Dunedin - the university, the beach, the coffee culture and the funky art and clothing scene.''
She was considering standing for the Dunedin City Council in next year's election.
"Where I can be most effective is the consideration.''
She moved to Mosgiel aged 8, but attended Kavanagh College and the University of Otago in Dunedin.
Above the gothic font of her Dunedin tattoo, she has the tattooed names of her three children, Lennox, Ebony and Frankie.
Below "Dunedin'' is a 7-year-old tattoo of four Greek words - a nod to her husband Petros, who is of Greek descent.
Translated into English, the words mean love, hope, patience and faith.
The placement of the tattoos form a cross as a symbol of her Catholic faith.
The tattoos had "mum and dad's approval'' and every comment about them had been positive, she said.
