Dunedin Nissans just keep getting pinched

It appears a joy-riding Nissan thief has struck again.

Police are investigating after a string of 1990s-model Nissans were stolen from around Dunedin, many of them ending up dumped in the city.

Senior Sergeant Mark Donaldson said a 1999 Nissan Wingroad was stolen from Moreau St, in St Kilda, on Thursday night.

Another car in the street was broken into and some possessions stolen.

Police were investigating if the two crimes were linked and whether the Wingroad theft was linked to the other Nissan thefts.

Meanwhile, the owner of another Nissan reported his car stolen from Fryatt St.

In a post on social media, the car's owner said his blue 1993 Nissan Pulsar M1 was stolen from outside a Fryatt St address on Sunday night.

They appeared to be the latest of 10 Nissans stolen and dumped around Dunedin.

Two vehicles were found dumped at Outram Glen earlier this month.

Acting Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson said at the time of the dumpings that it appeared an offender was stealing the Nissans, taking them for joyrides and dumping them.

Police advised the owners of 1990s-era Nissans to keep them locked and secured.
