The latest Otago Embroiderers' Guild exhibition has gained ''very positive feedback'' from the public, guild president Brenda Burton said yesterday.

The ''In Stitches'' 2018 exhibition follows an earlier show held two years ago, and the Monday night opening had been successful, Mrs Burton said.

Long-serving guild member and tutor Eleanor Brown had provided an impressive guest exhibitor display, and the standard of the more than 100 pieces of embroidery in the overall exhibition was ''extremely high'', Mrs Burton said.

Jane Carroll, of Dunedin, had won the Gay Eaton award for Overall Excellence, for a large green sampler bag with ''exquisite stitching''.

Sue Lucas received the Neville Studios award for a Hampden Court Palace Sampler, and Barbara Smith won both the traditional stitching and construction sections.

The free-entry exhibition runs each day from 10am to 4pm this week, including Saturday, at the Community Gallery, in Princes St, near the Octagon.
